Mechanical Filtration

Mechanical filtration is the process by which large particle waste is removed from water. Proper, thorough filtration of solid waste is essential to preventing cloudiness and discoloration. Hi-Q Clean Power cartridges keep your water crystal clear by swiftly trapping passing debris as water is pumped into the filter chamber.

Chemical Filtration

Chemical filtration is the process by which dissolved contaminants, principally ammonia and nitrites, are removed from water. Thorough chemical filtration is essential to eliminating the toxic, odor-producing gases which are byproducts of the mechanical filtration process. Hi-Q Clean Power cartridges contain research grade Activated Carbon, which instantly attracts and binds passing contaminants to its expansive surface area, and Zeolite, a powerful absorbent of harmful nitrates.

Biological Filtration

Biological filtration is the process by which waste is broken down from toxic ammonia to less toxic nitrates. Hi-Q’s patented Bio balls actively facilitate the growth of beneficial bacteria, enabling this conversion. Together, Hi-Q Bio Balls and Clean Power cartridges expose your aquarium water to more three-dimensional biological surface area than any other power filter commercially available.
