Chemical Filtration

Chemical filtration is the process by which dissolved contaminants, principally ammonia and nitrites, are removed from water. Thorough chemical filtration is essential to eliminating the toxic, odor-producing gases which are byproducts of the mechanical filtration process. Hi-Q Clean Power Disposable Filter Cartridges contain research grade Activated Carbon, which instantly attracts and binds passing contaminants to its expansive surface area, and Zeolite, a powerful absorbent of harmful nitrates.

Biological Filtration

Biological filtration is the process by which waste is broken down from toxic ammonia to less toxic nitrates. Hi-Q’s patented Bio balls actively facilitate the growth of beneficial bacteria, enabling this conversion.
